Five For Friday!

Can you believe that it is already the first Friday in July?? Unbelievable!! But it's also time for Five For Friday with Doodle Bugs Teaching. Awesome Sauce!!

Guys, I have been LOVING Whole 30. It's amazing the amount of energy I have from eating whole, fresh foods. I've done so much this week! Here are some snap shots of my meals this week:
Spinach Frittata, Tuna Salad, Spaghetti Squash and Meat Sauce

Leftover spinach frittata, Tuna Salad stuffed red bell peppers with ranch dressing, grilled chicken, potatoes, cabbage slaw

Mexican Tuna "Tacos" with leftover slaw, Roasted sweet potato topped with pulled pork carnitas and avocado mayo, bunless hamburger topped with mushrooms, onions on a bed of spinach with roasted red pepper mayo
Mexican tuna on romaine, "fried" plantains with pulled pork topped with a "fried" egg, oven roasted salmon with red pepper sauce sauteed vegetables
And these potatoes??? Guys. Guys. GUYS!!! DELICIOUS. All the ingredients were whole, fresh food made by me, including all the sauces and mayos. I would list out all the recipes, but it's a lot. If you would like one, just let me know!

I am definitely doing Twitter in the classroom this year!! Last night I listened in on a Twitter Chat with Greg and Kayla and I am so psyched to get my kiddos tweeting! Got lots of ideas on how to intro and support parents, too.
Tweet Deck!

I did a lot on the computer this week. I've been working on learning Adobe Illustrator so that I can branch out and make my own clipart. I've started with just a few simple things:
 from drawing to digital!

Okay, so I'm not the BEST drawer, but I think it came out so cute!! I'm a FAR WAYS AWAY from making anything professional, but it is nice to know that I can create something if I can't find it anywhere.

Did you know that there are only 63 days until College Football????? Geaux Tigers!!
Our move brought us literally to the edge of the LSU Campus. I can see Tiger Stadium. So we took advantage of living practically on campus and visited Mike at his habitat. Yeah, this tiger lives better than I do.

I mean, just look at that habitat!

They were also filming The Magnificent Seven with Chris Pratt (and Ethan Hawke, Matt Bomer, Denzel Washington, among others) on campus and around town so the roads were blocked, and yet I still didn't see any stars. Like, at all.
And how do you get to be an extra in these movies because I'm totally there??

And finally, I went blonde!! My hair was in serious need of a root touch up. And a hair cut, but one thing at a time people. My original hair color is a dirty blonde, which I can't stand, so I keep it dyed.
I also learned that I am a terrible selfie taker.
There's my stack of school stuff in the background.

I've got lots to do this weekend and next week and then before you know it, it'll be August. I start school August 4 btw.

How was your week??

Currently - July

I am linking up for the first time with Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her fabulous linky Currently.

Here's what's going on:

Listening: To Carly, bright and early on her phone on YouTube. It's Pewdiepie. Or Tyler Oakley. Or Smosh. Or Dan and Phil? Maybe Graser?? She loves Graser. The point is, my child is obsessed with YouTube and every morning we go through this routine: Phone propped on the kitchen counter, video playing, while she fixes herself something to eat because heaven forbid she actually eat something I cook. Teenagers, right??
Look at her silliness.

Loving: The Whole 30 is amazing! I am doing wonderfully well without dairy or bread. Or wine. Oh the wine. I do miss the wine. But I have been eating a lot more protein and veggies. The meals are delicious!! Here are some quick pics:

Thinking: About my to-do list! I've gotten a lot accomplished so far this week. It's been a lazy stay at home type week, so I've been on my computer mostly. As much as I can be due to my neck troubles. I still need to post two new products on TpT and finish organizing my shoes, but I'm getting closer to checking things off my list!

Wanting: My. Neck. To. Heal. My goodness, I have been dealing with neck pain and the subsequent headaches/migraines for close to one year now! And I'm doing my exercises from my physical therapist.  I haven't been lifting heavy things, per doctor's orders. I haven't been overexerting myself. And I've been resting like crazy. But still there are days I wake up (almost every day) and my neck aches. Hopefully time will eventually heal all things!!

Needing: I think my neck would heal fabulously whilst sipping lemon water on the front porch of a beach house listening to the waves crash upon the golden sand. I'm in desperate need of this. And, seriously, aren't we all??!!??

All Star: Okay, so I'm gonna brag a bit. I'm good at technology. Like really good. The software part that is. I can figure out how to work most computer programs quickly and effectively. You just can't be afraid to play around. My graduate degree prepared me quite well for working with educational technology and though it tried to prepare me for hardware, that still takes some Googling!! I've recently learned how to install custom fonts on my blog! I'm also working on building my own clipart in Illustrator. Big things coming up!!

I started with a drawing
Traced it in Illustrator
 And Ta-Da!!
Still a long ways to go, but I'm working on it!!

That's all I'm doing currently. :) What are you up to??

Winner Wednesday! Main Idea and Details Sort!

It's July!! Can you believe it? June went by in a flash! It's also the first Wednesday which means it's Winner Wednesday with Jennifer over at A Dab of Glue Will Do!

This week I'm giving away my Main Idea and Card Sort product. It's my number one best seller on TpT and I've recently updated it for the new school year!

This sort is ideal for reinforcing main idea and details in a center, small groups, or RTI.

The entire set is also differentiated: pictures only, words and pictures, words only.
There are 10 groups - Each group includes one main idea and four details.
I had to include Mardi Gras, y'all!!

When I introduce main idea, I pull together real life objects (details) and have the kids guess what the main idea could be. For example, I bring a real mixing bowl, (plastic) eggs, real oil bottle, and a package of frosting (I have a decorating bag with tip like the picture). I ask, What we could use all these items for? The kids usually are pretty quick with answers. And of course, at the end of the lesson or day, we get cupcakes!! Because, well, cupcakes. Duh.

I'll also pull some more real life objects and we make a chart of main idea and details talking about how the little details (bowl, oil, eggs, frosting) help to pull together the main idea (cake).

The set is also included as blackline! Ink saver alert!!!!!

There are three different recording pages for accountability.

And there you have it! A very simple little activity to set up and help support your main idea and details instruction.
